Many of the over 400,000 Singaporeans who visited Australia last year used our expertise and online application to obtain their visa online. In fact, most visitors to our website do not know they needed a visa. But, if you are planning on traveling to Australia anytime during the next 12 months, even if it's just for visiting the country or seeing family, a visa is required.
There are a few different types of visas that a Singapore passport holder is allowed to apply for. But, the most most dependable and cheapest visa to obtain, is an ETA (Electronic Travel Authority). At EasyETA, we specialize in these visas as they are the most popular and can have them processed quickly once an online application is submitted. All ETAs are processed within 24 hours, although expedited processing is available.
It's recommended you apply early, so that if the Department of Home Affairs does not approve your visa initially, you will still have enough time to take the necessary steps to apply for a different type of visa.
Aside from the other basic passport information that you will need to submit on an ETA application (passport number and validity dates), a National ID is now also required. This is unique to just a few passports around the world, and Singapore is one of them.
To find your National ID, you'll want to refer to the picture page of your passport. The National ID is listed at the bottom of the first column, just to the right of your picture.
This ID number starts with prefix S (born before 2000) and T (born in or after year 2000), followed with a 7 digit number and individual letter. For citizens and permanent residents born after 1968, the first two digits of the 7-digit number indicate their birth year.
Please locate this number on your passport prior to applying.
The answer to this question depends on the visa type. When you visit Australia, it's important to find the appropriate visa for your visit. Below, we've listed a chart that should help you find the right visa for your trip, which will mostly depend on your length of stay and intentions while in the country.
Purpose of Visit
|ETA||Tourism: up to 3 months||$9.95||24 hours|
|Tourist Stream||Tourism: up to 12 months||$145.00+||90% within 28 Days|
|Other||Live, Work, Study, & Other||View Pricing||Find a Visa|
As seen in the above chart, if your visit to Australia is for less than 3 months, then you can apply on our online Australian ETA application. If you are at the airport, or departing in less than 24 hours, you will want to select Urgent services on our visa application.
You can apply as early as 12 months before your entry into the country. And, we always recommend applying as early as possible, in case you are not approved.
When entering Australia, there may be health requirements if your stay is either longer than 3 months, or you are deemed high risk. If you apply for an ETA, a health assessment or health test is not required before you apply. It is possible, however, that the Department of Home Affairs requires you obtain a health exam after you submit your visa request. Further, you must be free of tuberculosis when entering Australia.
More information on health examinations for those wishing to stay longer than 3 months, can be found here.
If you still have questions or need help, review the frequently asked questions on our ETA information page. The benefits of using our services at EasyETA, as well as testimonials, and information for non-Singapore applicants, can be found on our Visa Services page.
